A Winery Visit

This past weekend the music man and his Fleetwood Mac Tribute band played at a local winery.  This was our first time visiting and we had a blast. Their grounds are beautiful and everyone was so nice, it was pretty great sipping a glass of red wine (or two) while listening to them play.  Little Lies Band played to a full house on their veranda amongst the vines at sunset and into the night. Here are some pics of our time there, i hope you'll enjoy your visit too.

Chance ~ 6 month update

January 22, 6 months ago...
 Today, July 22...
He and i have made great strides. As you can see he looks totally different, his winter coat is gone but he has also been gaining muscles and his back continues to lift.  We are close to completing a 60 day metabolic diet to see if it helps him, so far i don't see a change though.  Our bond is strong, he trust me and his respect towards me has much improved though we are still working some things out. He is no longer food aggressive and i am able to groom him without any issues.
In the last 6 months he's been the recipient of 100's of hugs and smooches. The music man and monkey often drop by to hang out too. We moved to a new boarding/training barn a month and half ago and i am so happy we did and love it there, its a perfect fit for us. The women are wonderful, the trails fun and thanks to Sue i am becoming a more confidant leader and our round pen work is improving.
Oh yeah keep scratching right there... thanks man or at least i think that what he's saying... I love this silly moment captured and their expressions are hilarious.
In the last 6 months i was fortunate to meet Paula. She knows the house he came from before going to the rescue and was able to get me his paperwork.  I now have his birth date, where he was born and his original adoption papers from the BLM, very exciting stuff, thanks Paula!

The last six months have been amazing. Chance is incredibly smart, stubborn, sweet and open. He really is such a sweet guy, a total pocket horse and i am so thankful for him. What a blessing it is to see what a little love and kindness can do.

Life is SO good!

birthday's

I'm not one who celebrates all month long or sends out a warning "my" day is coming. Not that there's anything wrong with it, I'm just not much of a birthday person especially when it comes to mine. My birthday is like any other day around here.I don't want or need anything and am already living out my dreams in real life, everyday.

I spent the day like this:
Morning with Chance
Brunch with the music man
It's still hot so a little bit of time in the garden
Time with my camera documenting the day
Listened to the music man sing songs
Ended the day with my family enjoying a delicious dinner
Check out this cake, crazy good and enough for everyone to grab a bite or two

I'm thankful for ~
a great day
a good man
my brown dog
a generous monkey
a black horse
a bug
sunshine
fresh clean food from our garden
laughter
my family
my camera
a good glass of red wine
time with our buddies
new adventures to come
44 years and the wisdom it brings
We had a bit of a medical worry the last couple weeks and i am incredibly thankful for good news and good health!

Playing hookie...

It's been a hot and stressful couple of weeks around here and i needed a break so the music man and i hatched a plan. We snuck off early from work Thursday and enjoyed half a day playing hookie in San Diego.  First stop was the La Jolla Caves.
For $4 you can enter one of the seven caves by foot through this store.
This is Sunny Jim's cave and it is said to resemble a character, do you see it?
After the Caves at La Jolla we drove down to Little Italy for some yummy snacks.
With full bellies we drove to Solano Beach to shoot the sunset.
The sky was cloudy, no sun to be capture so i practiced my long exposure shots.
We had a really nice day and was exactly what we needed.  I highly recommend playing hookie once every long while, its very fun!

Keeping it cool

The summer heat is here and it's flipping HOT and my drive to get things done is not. Our temps are hovering around 103 degrees and expected to stay this hot for four more days at least. I broke down and turned the air conditioner on the other day and am so thankful we have this option.  I feel bad for people who don't and couldn't image how uncomfortable and dangerous that would be.

In hopes of keeping it cool I'm not ~
Knitting
Cooking
Enjoying my lunch break outdoors

Instead I'm ~
Hanging out with Chance earlier in the morning
Working in the garden in the early evening
Enjoying salads, fruit and ice cream
Jumping  pool
Running my air conditioner a lot
planning a day at the beach

Hope your week is going well and you're keeping cool amongst these hot summer days.

Eleven

Today we celebrate my best buddies eleventh birthday. This sweet boy of ours likes snuggles, long walks, taking naps in the grass while soaking in the sunshine and treats. He's a professional at eating treats and taking naps.  He's not very interested in chasing rabbits or squirrels that visit our place but does guard our home well. How i love this sweet face...

Happy Birthday Jack!

"Soul Mates are people who bring out the best in you.  They are not perfect but are always perfect for you".  ~Author Unknown
We've had a house full of family and friends the last several days and i love it. Last Saturday the music man and i snuck out to a local winery for an afternoon of snacks and sangria which was perfect for a warm summer afternoon.
