Day Six

"If the sight of blue skies fills you with joy,  if a blade of grass springing
up in the fields has power to move you,  if the simple things
of nature have a message that you understand,
rejoice, for your soul is alive."  Eleonora Duse

Oak trees scatter the pastures and prairies in my hood. Many of the trees on our property are hundreds of years old. The oldest of these is called "The Great Oak" and is over 2,000 years old! Amazing huh, it lives in town.

I love the respect our community has for nature. In fact the shot above is just one of several examples of where the roadway was built to accommodate us without disturbing nature and her history.

I am thankful for my community, I really do love my hood.

  1. I love that quote! And it's great that the community has a great respect for nature. I love that they built the road around the tree instead of removing it. So wonderful!

  3. THAT is great, in a lot of places, they would've simply cut it down and paved it over! Thank you for coming by to share on Rurality Blog Hop #39!

  5. Nice that the road splits around the tree. Too many times they are cut down and paved over!

  7. That's showing respect -- which I love. Doesn't happen around here much, unfortunately. Beautiful trees.

  8. Gorgeous pic of a majestic tree. I love, love, love oaks. Live oak trees might be the only thing I miss about living in Texas!
