Got Granola...

got granola...
I have had a couple people ask me lately how I make my granola so I thought I would share my recipe with you.

This granola is so good and super easy to make.

Preheat oven to 325 degrees and line 2 baking sheets

Combine the following in a large bowl and set aside
8 c rolled oats
1 1/2 c wheat germ
1 1/2 c oat bran
1/2 c flax seed
1 c chopped almonds
1 c chopped pecans

Then add together the following ingredients in a sauce pan and bring to boil.
1/2 c brown sugar
1/2 maple syrup
3/4 c honey
1/4 c veg oil
1 Tbs cinnamon
1 Tbs vanilla

Remove from heat and pour over dry ingredients. Stir to coat and spread evenly onto baking sheets

bake approx 20 mins. Stir once half way through and bake until crispy then remove.

Once cooled stir in raisens and dates
1 c raisens
1 c chopped dates

Just a note:
As far as the nuts and fruit, I usually throw in whatever I have on hand or in season and really anything goes here, it definitely doesnt have to be exact. You might want to throw a few spoonfulls on some yogurt or on a warm day some vanilla bean ice cream, YUM!

Enjoy!

  2. I will be making this - sounds wonderful. Husband & I are making eating habit changes, I keep buying different types of oatmeal but can't find one that seems right, so I'll use some up with this recipe, I don't think it's the oatmeal that is the problem - it's the person cooking it, not right consistency or something? Wish I had gone down to the kitchen in Wisconsin to see if they were using magic pans!!
