If you surrender to the wind, you can ride it. ~Toni Morrison
Last week we had a power outage at home that was going to last a few hours so monkey and I jumped in her truck, turned up the music, sang along and drove to check out a new beach.
Gone fishing
We went to Oceanside. The pier here is such a long one, the longest i have walked on for sure and from the beginning to the end there were fishing poles lined up on both sides. Right in the middle of the pier there was a snack and tackle shop to support the fisherman in both snackies for them and the fish. I wonder what they were fishing for and with a hundred or so people fishing in the same area, if they ever catch anything.
Lifes a beach, thank goodness for that breeze!
The beach was really popular too. All these people and of course us, flocking to the coast to cool down and take a break from the inland heat. The ocean breeze is so magical.

In surrendering to the circumstance of the power outage and not stressing that i couldn't work (no computer)for a few hours, i found that i was actually thankful for it. Thankful for the power outage that gave us time together and an adventure that we would have otherwise missed.

Life is SO good!

a bit of thankfulness for a thursday

Since I last visited this little blog of mine the music man lost his dad unexpectedly and we made a trip to Washington State. It's been a while since I've done a thankful post and i was thinking especially in periods of life's low's we still have so much to be grateful for.
Lake Rosiger park
I am thankful for the memories of a generous and kind man that i had the pleasure of knowing.
a walk in the woods
I am thankful for quiet walks in the woods with just my thoughts and camera.
tree line reflections
I am thankful for fresh caught salmon.

I am thankful for my faith in God, my family who loves me for just being me and my music man who makes me smile or laugh out loud every single day.
dancing in the moonlight is so fun!
Just before we left i turned another year older and celebrated quietly while soaking in the warm summer air and incredible light offered by the moon. I am thankful for this place, time and space that i find myself in these days.

Friendships that rock my world

“Even though we've changed and we're all finding our own place in the world, we all know that when the tears fall or the smile spreads across our face, we'll come to each other because no matter where this crazy world takes us, nothing will ever change so much to the point where we're not all still friends.”

The music man and i just had the most amazing weekend filled with surprise visits from dear friends and great music.

After finishing a short work week because of the holiday we kicked off our weekend with a wonderful afternoon visiting with family friends. While preparing for their visit we found out that a couple of long time buddies of ours that we hadn't seen in years were in town. So after our amazing dinner and visit we went and saw his band as they played at a local venue. After their show we left and visited another friend whose band was playing else where but again close to us. On Sunday everyone came over and we got to catch up, hang out and even take a trip down memory lane.

The quote above makes me smile as it is so true. We now live quite a ways from our friends yet days like last weekend give us the reminder that no matter where we go in life our friends are always there. Life is SO good!

Were farming now

well getting started anyways.
farming around
We used the holiday weekend to rent a tiller and put up a fence to keep all the animals out and now I have 1,000 sq ft tilled piece of dirt ready to play in thanks to my hard working music man.
I transplanted my veggies from their containers to the soil and hope the shock isn't to bad. Its late to plant for summer so i am hoping they will thrive and give me something to harvest soon. We are so lucky the weather here allows us to garden year around and I'm already working up my list for fall and winter seeds.
thankful for this pool!
It was HOT here so we spent our time enjoying the pool while waiting for it to cool enough so we work more.

As requested, here are a couple pics of our new surroundings.
We share our space with a couple acres of Red Zinfandel Vines
valley view
and are visited almost every morning by hot air balloons
and finish our days with beautiful sunsets.
