a new bag

Mama's new bag
I love these bags from Heather Ross' Weekend Sewing they really are the perfect versatile bag. They are so easy and quick to make too. In preparing for our upcoming trip to the lake I made several of them last weekend in an assortment of sizes to hold everything from dirty laundry to toiletries. So fun! Now that we have our bags we are ready and counting the days til we leave.

Happy Tuesday I hope you are having a wonderful day!

hello there

I didn't intend to be away form this space this week and cannot believe it is already Friday. Seriously where does the time go. I should be posting "this moment" but wanted to drop in for a quick visit instead. As you know I have been working a lot lately and my life has been extra busy but good.
Pasta Sunday
Pasta Sunday was at my sister house this last weekend and she gifted me this book for my birthday.
A new book
The beauty of this book is that it doesn't tell you what it is about. You have to read it to see how it unfolds. The back cover even states when you pass it forward that you do not share the story as to not ruin it for the next person. Interesting huh. Well, I am just a few chapters in and love it. On the knitting front I am making slow but steady progress on the baby cardi's. I hope to share some pictures of them soon.

Here's wishing you wonderful weekend.

Got Granola...

got granola...
I have had a couple people ask me lately how I make my granola so I thought I would share my recipe with you.

This granola is so good and super easy to make.

Preheat oven to 325 degrees and line 2 baking sheets

Combine the following in a large bowl and set aside
8 c rolled oats
1 1/2 c wheat germ
1 1/2 c oat bran
1/2 c flax seed
1 c chopped almonds
1 c chopped pecans

Then add together the following ingredients in a sauce pan and bring to boil.
1/2 c brown sugar
1/2 maple syrup
3/4 c honey
1/4 c veg oil
1 Tbs cinnamon
1 Tbs vanilla

Remove from heat and pour over dry ingredients. Stir to coat and spread evenly onto baking sheets

bake approx 20 mins. Stir once half way through and bake until crispy then remove.

Once cooled stir in raisens and dates
1 c raisens
1 c chopped dates

Just a note:
As far as the nuts and fruit, I usually throw in whatever I have on hand or in season and really anything goes here, it definitely doesnt have to be exact. You might want to throw a few spoonfulls on some yogurt or on a warm day some vanilla bean ice cream, YUM!

Enjoy!

Jacks day

Jackson Brown
Our Brown dog Jack is another year older! This sweet face we have seen everyday now for nine years. He shadows me and is always by my side, under my chair or at my feet. He is cuddly, patient and oh so sweet. He loves kids, hanging out in the garden, taking long walks, sunny days to bask in and doesn't mind waiting until the end of knitting a row. He likes my sewing to. Every time I lay something out to measure he immediately runs over and lays on it as if it is there just for him. Of course being a lab his favorite thing is food, food and more food. Happy birthday to my brown dog!

hi

starting my day
We'll work has been extremely busy lately and I missed "a moment" yesterday, oops. Truth be told (you know to keep this space real) I spent all my time this week working and never really had a "moment" otherwise. I do have plans to get away from my desk for a bit later today and go watch the musical handyman as he has a concert tonight.

Okay back to work I go but first I want to wish you a Happy Saturday and wonderful long weekend packed full of the things that bring you happiness. Enjoy!

making progress

The days are longer, warmer and so beautiful. My craft time has suffered a bit as I am spending as much time outside soaking in this season as I can.
flower pots
I had fun painting out back and
a good read
I can't seem to put this book down.
yellow cardi
I am making good progress on the baby sets for my MIL. I finished two beanies and am working on the back panel of the first cardi.
top
my summer quilt top is moving right along as well.
summer quilt top
The top is now 72" x 78" just a few more rows. I hope to have the top done by the end of the weekend. I am excited to get it done and on my bed! I am bit nervous though, as I have not made a quilt this big before. Fingers crossed.

Happy Thursday to you! Be back tomorrow with "this moment"
